When an online store applies, we immediately conduct a comprehensive check. We do this to ensure that customers know where they stand when they order from a webshop. Transparency is the key word here.
What do we check?
- Contact details: An online store must be easily accessible. This means a written telephone number, email address, physical address and the correct KVK and VAT numbers on the contact page.
- Terms and conditions: So that customers know what their rights and obligations are.
- Privacy policy: How do you handle personal data? This should be clearly described.
- Return and complaint pages: We see if customers can easily figure out how to return a product or file a complaint.
- The ordering and payment process: We go through this as if we were customers ourselves. Everything has to be smooth and secure. The result? Customers can store with confidence at an online store, and that confidence is worth its weight in gold.

Complaints procedure: together to a solution
What if something does go wrong? WebwinkelKeur has a clear complaints procedure to help both customers and webshops.
- Submit complaint: The customer fills out a form through our platform.
- Notify webshop: We send an email to the webshop with a clear description of the complaint.
- Resolve together: The webshop has 7 days to come to a solution.
Mediation: Is it not possible within these 7 days? Then we step in. We discuss the complaint with both parties and, if necessary, outline a legal framework to show what the customer can legally expect.
Still no solution? Then there is DigiDispuut, our independent disputes committee. A binding decision can be requested for a contribution of €25. In this way, we ensure that even difficult situations are resolved fairly.
Unique advantages of DigiDispuut:
- The process is more accessible, cheaper and faster than a court case. Everything is done online, making it easy for both parties to participate.
- Unlike a court, DigiDispute does not provide access to bailiffs, but the judgment can be upheld by a judge if necessary.
Effectiveness of the process:
The majority of disputes are resolved during mediation. Only a small percentage (for example, 43 cases in 2022) eventually end up at DigiDispuut for a binding ruling.

For general legal questions, even without a specific dispute, consumers and entrepreneurs can contact WebwinkelKeur. This advice is free, although more complex cases may be referred to partners.
Help Us Stop Abuse
See a webshop that uses the WebwinkelKeur logo but is not a member? Report it to us! We take abuse of our trustmark very seriously. Once you make a report through our website, we investigate the situation carefully. If it appears that the shop is using our logo improperly, we will contact the shop in question and ask them to remove the logo.
If a shop does not respond or refuses to remove the logo, we take further action. For example, we publish a public warning on our website so that consumers are aware of the abuse. In addition, we keep a list of web shops where abuse has been detected, in order to warn others.
